Townspeople recount their versions of how the island of Swallow Falls came to be. Sam's incredulous, not believing any of their tall tales. // Flint creates a machine that predicts a person's future occupation, surprising himself with his own result. As his classmates prepare for their amazing futures, Flint contemplates his prediction.

Flint builds a spaceship for an Australian businessman, Mr. Zorbleck, and he and Sam head up with Zorbleck for the inaugural voyage. When they get to space, Zorbleck makes them an offer they have a hard time refusing. // Tim's rebellious-and nearly identical-brother Jim comes for a visit. When he sees how great Tim's life is, he comes up with a plot to take over Tim's identity.

Flint invents a time machine to see if Tim's stories about his youth are actually true. However, while in the past, Flint makes changes that have alarming effects in the present day. // Devastated when no one in town understands his most amazing invention ever, Flint quits inventing-and Swallow Falls-for good. He moves to Thistle Hills, where he meets someone who just might make him take up inventing once again.

Flint and Sam can't agree on which one of them won the school science fair when they first met. They use Flint's Walking TV invention to flash back to that fateful week, when their competitive spirit nearly destroyed the town. // Sam has to eat sardine-flavoured cheese on air for a story. She hates sardines, so Flint invents a device that will make the cheese taste like bacon instead. However, the device has some unforeseen bacon-related side effects....

Earl, fed up with Flint's shenanigans, forbids him from inventing at school. When Earl catches wind that Flint is inventing anyway, he disguises himself as a new student, Pearl, in order to befriend Sam and find out what Flint is planning. // When Sam and Flint are teased for being too similar, they insist they have more in common with Brent and Gil than with each other. However, their new friendships test Flint and Sam's respective nerves.

Flint accidentally De-Statuizes the statue of Sal the Sardine that sits in the harbour, bringing him to life. Sal, who's been watching over the town for years, can't help but reveal all the secrets he's overheard. // To celebrate their Friendiversary, Flint gives Sam a cloud maker that creates an adorable cloud pet. But things go haywire when Sam gets too attached to her new friend.

Gil takes over as principal and, much to his dad's surprise, actually improves the school...until his crush on Sam makes things weird. As Flint and Sam try to navigate Gil's new rules, Shelbourne waits in the wings to tell them "I told you so." // Nothing embarrasses Brent...until he tries out Flint's new self-awareness-creating invention and becomes horrified by his boorish ways. Sam, saddened by Brent's lost sense of self, tries to get Brent to...

When Flint and Sam see how miserable Mr. Earl is on his day off, Flint invents virtual reality glasses to keep him entertained. However, the glasses cause more problems than they solve. // Flint discovers he will one day go bald like his dad and invents the Hair Unbalder, so Tim decides to show him the perks of being bald. Meanwhile, the Hair Unbalder gets unto the water supply, creating Hairy Sardines.

Flint helps Brent with his science project, inadvertently inventing a cool new element in the process-for which Brent takes all the credit. When the new element proves popular with the townspeople, Flint does whatever he can to reclaim the credit. // Sam receives a pet penguin from her Pet of the Month Club, unaware of Swallow Falls' long and terrible history with the aquatic bird. Thanks to one of Flint's inventions, the penguin problem quickly spirals...

When Flint's new invention gives Gil some much-needed confidence, the mayor demands a moxy-boost of his own. The two devolve into a moxy-off, with Flint and his invention caught in the middle. // Sam tries to help a new student settle into Swallow Falls, only to discover the townspeople are much nicer to the new girl than they ever were to her. Flint tries to help Sam with her newfound insecurity, but he can't help liking the new girl, too.
