Agthe Alken Ludemann, widowed in 1856 in Firrel, Hanover, Germany, came to the United States in 1857 with all but one of her children and located near Eureka, Illinois. Later, she moved with a daughter to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Agthe died in 1888 or 1889 at the age of 92. Descendants of Agthe, through her several sons and daughters, have been successful farmers and orchardists in several states ofa the midwest and the northwest.
