Description
A Pennsylvanian transplanted to southern Oregon by way of southern California, Nestor began exploring place names in the middle 1980s. Here she identifies over 150 communities in the Pacific Northwest and describes how they got their names, the native tribes who inhabited the region before European settlement, and the settlement and growth of the towns. She does not indicate how to pronounce the names. Four maps and 50 photographs are included. Her sights are turned next on the West and Plains for the same treatment.
