The story traces the repercussions of that fateful night during the time between 1947 and 1970.
The narrative begins in the spring of 1947 on the occasion of the bar mitzvah of Abe's son Harry. Abe and his wife, Helen, will attend with Harry's three brothers, Joe, George, and Sam.
